Kernel revealed the reasons for the sale of the “Eneida” vessel
The respective decision was related to the decrease in freight rates and an attractive offer on the ship market.
Agroholding “Kernel” decided to sell the ship Eneida, purchased in 2023. Mykola Miroshnychenko, the director of logistics of the company, stated this in an interview for Latifundist.
The sale of the vessel was due to a favorable offer on the market. On the bulk carrier, the company “caught a high wave of freight rates”, then they went down. “Kernel” took advantage of the peak of freight rates, after which they began to decline, approaching the break-even point.
“For us, the fleet is not only about volume, but also about understanding the market. We entered the investment when freight rates were at the top. I remember calculations according to which the vessel’s payback was less than a year. And, indeed, that is what happened: we quickly paid off our vessel,” commented Miroshnychenko.
USM recently wrote that the Kernel agricultural holding sold the dry cargo “Eneida” and three grain warehouses. The Ukrainian company received 7.4 million dollars for the sale of the vessel.
