Ukraine needs to open new markets and switch to deep processing, – Koval
Among the main priorities of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy are European integration and a qualitative transition from the model of an agrarian country to an agro-industrial one.
This was satated by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vitaly Koval during a meeting with representatives of the International Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine.
According to him, the total losses of the Ukrainian agricultural sector due to the full-scale invasion of Russia is 80 billion dollars.
“Of them, direct losses are 13 billion dollars. In particular, Ukrainian farmers suffered large indirect losses due to the closure of the Black Sea grain corridor, when the price for transportation of one ton of products increased from $30 to $100,” the minister emphasized.
He emphasized that today a ton of Ukrainian agricultural products for export is 309 dollars, and in Poland – 1,650 dollars. Therefore, it is important for the agricultural sector to switch to deep processing and production of products with high added value in order to increase the value of exports and be competitive on the world market market.
It is also necessary to open new markets to ensure global food security and develop normal relations with civilized countries. In addition, the minister drew attention to the importance of a joint fight against disinformation, which is actively spread by the enemy in the world and the EU, in particular, regarding Ukrainian agricultural products.
It should be noted that during the meeting the parties agreed to continue cooperation on supporting and restoring the Ukrainian agricultural sector.
We will remind you that Ukraine, despite the war, ensures the food security of other countries today. In particular, it supplies products for 600 million people in the world.
