Russia lost 34 sailors as a result of the destruction of the large landing ship of the project 775 “Novocherkassk” of the Black Sea Fleet.
Recently, a memorial dedicated to the sailors of the landing ship of the same name was opened in Novocherkassk, Russia. This is reported by “Militarnyi”.
Thus, it became known that at least 34 crew members of the invaders’ ship died during the war against Ukraine.
Recall that the Ukrainian Air Force carried out a strike with cruise missiles on the ship “Novocherkassk” on the night of December 26, 2023, when it was in the port of temporarily occupied Feodosia.
According to Ukrainian sources, the Russian military used the ship to transport explosive cargo, probably ammunition. As a result of the hit, a large-scale fire broke out, which caused the detonation of the cargo and the complete destruction of the ship.
“Novocherkassk” became the fifth large landing ship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet to be destroyed in the Black Sea by Ukrainian military action.
In late October 2024, the Russian occupation authorities in Feodosia began an operation to raise the remains of the ship from the seabed.
