As a result of a strong storm, waves cut one of the Russian tankers almost in half.
On the morning of December 14, it became known that two Russian tankers, Volgoneft-212 and Volgoneft-239, were sinking in the Kerch Strait, writes RBC-Ukraine.
The cause of the accident was a strong storm. One of the tankers was cut almost in half by waves.
The tanker Volgoneft-212, which was carrying 4 tons of oil, was first to crash. An hour later, the storm hit Volgoneft-239.
It is also known that 13 crew members are on board one vessel, and 14 on board the other.
According to Russian media, the crews have been on the decks for about four hours and are waiting for help.
A rescue boat was sent to Volgoneft-239, and an Mi-8 helicopter also flew to the damaged Russian tankers.
