Businessman who organized extortion of grain traders to be tried in Odesa region
SBI employees have completed an investigation into an entrepreneur who was extorting money from exporters of the “grain corridor”.
The press service of the department noted that the indictment has already been sent to court.
Recall that in early April 2024, SBI employees detained an entrepreneur and two officials of the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection in the Odesa and Zaporizhzhia regions, who organized a scheme to extort money for issuing phytosanitary certificates and other documents for the export of barley and corn.
Exporters who planned to export barley to China were demanded, initially, $22.5 thousand for every 15 thousand tons, and later – $30 thousand.
The case against the officials of the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection was previously sent to court.
Earlier, USM reported that the SBI was conducting searches in the Odesa Economic Security Bureau in the case of the grain corridor.
