An agreement was reached in Odesa on the merger of two maritime universities

The rectorate of the universities and the deputy minister discussed the details of the unification of universities.
The rector of the Odesa National Maritime University Mykhailo Miyusov reported this on his Facebook page.
Thus, at the National University “Odesa Maritime Academy” a meeting of the Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mykhailo Vynnytskyi with members of the rectorates of the National University “OMA” and ONMU was held on the issues of optimizing the network of higher maritime education institutions in Ukraine.
The rector of the Odesa National Maritime University Mykhailo Miyusov said that during the meeting they reached a consensus on the need to create a single maritime higher education institution in Odessa.
“We also discussed the mechanisms, terms of the unification, the definition of the governing bodies of the participants in the unification and other organizational measures important for the life of both universities, related to the creation of a new legal entity on the basis of two universities,” the rector emphasized. Recall that the unification of the two maritime universities in Odessa became known back in January 2025. Then the order on preparation for the merger was signed by the Minister of Education and Science, Oksen Lisovyi.
