Humanitarian ship with Ukrainian grain arrives in Turkey

A humanitarian ship carrying Ukrainian grain has docked at the Toros port in Turkey.
This was reported by Hürriyet Daily News.
On Thursday, May 8, a ship carrying humanitarian aid — 20,000 tons of Ukrainian wheat — arrived at the Toros port in the northern province of Turkey as part of the UN World Food Programme (WFP) initiative to support crisis-hit regions, including Syria.
The Brave Commander vessel was solemnly welcomed at a ceremony attended by representatives of the WFP Turkey office, the Turkish Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and the Samsun Governorate.
Acting Deputy Governor of Samsun Kemal Yildiz welcomed the delivery of the cargo as a symbol of global solidarity.
WFP Turkey Director Stephen Cahill said that 5,000 tons of tons of wheat will go to support WFP operations in Syria, aimed at meeting urgent needs in the context of the ongoing conflict. He also noted that over the past five years, WFP has purchased food from Turkey worth $ 1.1 billion, which was distributed as global humanitarian assistance.
Earlier, USM reported that Ukraine had supplied more than 280 thousand tons of food under Grain from Ukraine.
