In the Odesa region, the head of a crewing company was convicted of spying for Russia

The attacker, who worked as the head of a company for the employment of sailors, guided Russian drones and missiles at the port infrastructure of the Odesa region.
This was reported by the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, the attacker – the head of a local company for the employment of sailors for merchant and fishing vessels – used his business trips to collect information about the movements of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the SBU, the attacker aimed to help the invaders bypass Ukrainian air defenses during new attacks on the Odesa region.
It was also established that the agent transmitted the coordinates of objects that the Russians later fired with drones and missiles. In May 2024, he was detained by SBU officers while attempting to conduct additional reconnaissance of another potential target. During the searches, a mobile phone with evidence of cooperation with the enemy was seized from him.
The court found him guilty under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, i.e., of high treason committed under martial law. The punishment is 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
