The second sanctioned vessel in a year arrived at the Russian plant “Arctic LNG 2”

A U.S.-sanctioned LNG carrier docked at the Russian facility Arctic LNG 2 this week.

It is the second sanctioned vessel to dock at the facility this year, Reuters reported.

It could indicate that shipments from the Arctic LNG 2, which is also under Western sanctions over Russia’s war in Ukraine, have resumed.

The tanker Voskhod arrived at the facility on Wednesday, July 16. The vessel was heading to the facility unloaded.

The first vessel to arrive at the Arctic LNG 2 facility this year was the “Iris”, which loaded a cargo at the facility on June 26. It was the ninth cargo to leave the facility. The vessel is currently located near Kolguev Island in western Russia, according to its location.

In October, the U.S. State Department imposed sanctions on the registered owners and managers of several gas carriers, including the Voskhod, formerly known as North Mountain.

While the vessel’s registered owner remains LNG Beta Shipping, its ship or commercial manager changed on May 23 to Igarka OOO, a Moscow-based company. Reuters was unable to find contact information for LNG Beta Shipping or Igarka.
