Zelenskyy signed a law on sanctions against Russian “shadow fleet” vessels

On Wednesday, July 30, the President of Ukraine signed a law on the application of sanctions to vessels of the so-called Russian “shadow fleet”.

This is stated in the card of the bill No. 13020 on the parliament’s website.

The law provides for the imposition of sanctions on vessels and aircraft involved in the Russian shadow transportation of oil and petroleum products, weapons and military personnel.

The document provides for amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Sanctions” to apply sanctions to vessels and aircraft whose activities pose real and potential threats to the national interests, national security, territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.

The Security Service of Ukraine and intelligence are tasked with identifying and establishing the facts of the use of such vessels.

In particular, information about all entities, as well as vessels and aircraft, to which sanctions have been applied, must be entered into the State Register of Sanctions.Read also: Over 100 shadow fleet vessels and oil price caps. The EU approved the 18th package of sanctions against Russia.
