Economic Security Bureau blocked an attempt to export $2 million worth of “black grain” through the port of Pivdennyi

Detectives of the Economic Security Bureau have uncovered a scheme to export 5.4 thousand tons of soybeans worth about $2 million through the port of Pivdennyi.

This was reported by the head of the parliamentary committee on finance, tax and customs policy, Danylo Getmantsev.

According to Getmantsev, on August 12, Odesa Customs allowed a ship with cargo under the customs regime of “processing outside the customs territory”. However, thanks to the operational actions of the Bureau, the ship did not have time to leave the territory of Ukraine. Relevant court decisions are currently awaited to finally prevent it from leaving the port.

The official emphasized that criminals are increasingly trying to use “cover goods” and other customs regimes to bypass the export support regime. According to him, the recently adopted law on this regime has already proven its effectiveness in combating illegal grain exports.

Hetmantsev called on businesses to work exclusively within the legal framework and demanded personnel decisions regarding the management and employees of the Odesa Customs involved in the incident.

Earlier, it became known that a grain exporter in the Odesa region reimbursed UAH 119 million in unpaid taxes.
