A civilian vessel struck a sea mine off the coast of Odesa

According to preliminary data, there are no injured or dead crew members.
In the Black Sea near the coast of Odesa, a civilian merchant ship was blown up by an unidentified explosive device. This is reported by “Suspilne”, referring to the spokesman for the Navy Dmytro Pletenchuk.
According to him, there are no injured or dead crew members. A technical inspection of the vessel is currently underway, and there is a high probability that it will be able to continue moving under its own power.
“We are doing everything necessary to ensure the maximum safety of civilian shipping. But, despite all measures, such incidents can sometimes happen,” the Navy representative emphasized.
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the Black Sea has remained one of the most mined water areas in the world. The Ukrainian military regularly conducts mine clearance of sea routes, but the danger to civilian vessels remains.
Earlier, USM reported that Canada is ready to help Ukraine with mine clearance of the Black Sea.
