Zelenskyy discussed the fight against the Russian “shadow fleet” with the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service

As a result of this meeting, Ukraine will develop effective steps to weaken the Kremlin’s capabilities to wage war.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a working meeting with the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Oleg Ivashchenko. He wrote about this on Facebook.

During the conversation, special attention was paid to countering the so-called Russian shadow fleet – a network of vessels used by Moscow to circumvent sanctions and sabotage activities.

Zelenskyy instructed the SFR to strengthen coordination with Western allies in order to make the activities of the “shadow fleet” that Russia uses to finance the war as difficult as possible.

“Our intelligence is actively working with partners to prevent Russia from using the “shadow fleet” vessels for sabotage and other attempts at destabilization in Europe. We provide all the necessary information to our partners and expect that the counteraction to Russian interference will be much stronger,” Zelensky noted.

The meeting also identified key schemes for circumventing sanctions that require immediate closure, discussed information security and cooperation with partners on supplying Ukraine with weapons and equipment.

Also, the day before, USM reported that Denmark was stepping up inspections of Russia’s “shadow fleet” due to environmental risks.
