Expectations are very high, — Kashuba on the concession of the container terminal in the port of Chornomorsk

Ukraine may announce a tender for the implementation of a public-private partnership (concession) in the port of Chornomorsk by the end of 2025.

This was stated by Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine Andriy Kashuba during the “Infrastructure Day 2025”, which was held by the Logistics Committee of the European Business Association, writes Rail.Insider.

“As the head of the tender commission, I hope that by the new year we aim to launch this process,” the official noted.

Taras Boychuk, a consultant to the World Bank Group and head of the project office for public-private partnership “SPILNO” under the Ministry of Development, clarified that this is a container terminal.

After the announcement of the tender, a special event is expected for potential participants and companies interested in the concession.

“Expectations are very high. We hope for some competition between the largest leaders in this industry, which, in turn, will give us the opportunity to attract more funds for the restoration of our infrastructure and deductions,” said Andriy Kashuba.

The competition may be announced on the Ministry of Development website next week.

It was previously reported that the public-private partnership project of the port of Chornomorsk has attracted the interest of more than 40 international port operators and investors from four continents.

It is known that the project involves attracting hundreds of millions of dollars in the modernization of berths and equipment; more than $1.1 billion in revenue to the budgets over 40 years; preservation and restoration of container transportation up to 250 thousand TEUs each year during the first three years and further growth to the pre-war level – more than half a million TEUs.

As previously reported by USM, the Ministry of Development explained how the concession at the port of Chornomorsk will take place.
