Russia attacked the Kernel oil and fat plant in Chornomorsk on Christmas night

On the night of December 24-25, the Illichivsk Oil and Fat Plant, located in Chornomorsk, came under enemy attack.
This was reported by the press service of the Kernel company.
As a result of the drone strike, a container with vegetable oil was damaged, which led to a large-scale fire and oil leakage.
“The fire engulfed the production facilities of the enterprise, creating a serious threat to infrastructure and personnel. The wreckage of the UAV also damaged part of the production unit,” the report says.
Currently, work is underway to eliminate the consequences and assess the damage, in particular, the volume of lost oil is being clarified. Fortunately, none of the employees were injured.
The company emphasized that this attack was another in a series of targeted strikes by Russia on the port and oil refining infrastructure of the Odessa region in recent weeks. As a result of these attacks, at least 9 people died and dozens were injured. The attacks targeted facilities for storage, transshipment and processing of agricultural products, including terminals with vegetable oils and port infrastructure, including assets of companies in the agro-industrial sector.
The attacks led to the destruction and loss of thousands of tons of products, large-scale fires with the ignition of food cargoes – flour and oil, and also created serious environmental risks for the Black Sea area.
“Taken together, these attacks indicate a systematic and deliberate campaign to destroy Ukraine’s food and export infrastructure. The Russian Federation is purposefully attacking facilities that ensure the production, storage and export of agricultural products, trying to cause maximum damage to the Ukrainian processing industry and creating risks for international logistics, the environment and the stability of supplies to dozens of countries around the world,” Kernel emphasized.
