A boat of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine conducted a rescue operation in the Odesa region: three children fell under the ice

Two children were pulled out of the water by guards at the recreation center, and border guards on a hovercraft also joined the rescue operation.

In the village of Gradenytsia, Odesa district, on the Kuchurgan estuary, three children fell through the ice. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odessa region.

The incident occurred on February 21 in the afternoon. Two boys and a girl aged 11 to 13 came to the reservoir to spend time by the water. The children went out onto the ice, which turned out to be too thin, and found themselves in cold water.

The guards at the recreation center located nearby were the first to rush to help. They were able to pull the two boys out of the water. Border guards who arrived on a hovercraft also joined the rescue operation. Despite the efforts of the medics, the girl, at a distance, could not be saved.

Investigators entered information into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under the article of the Criminal Code of Ukraine with the mark “accident”. All circumstances of the tragedy are currently being established.

The police once again called on parents to monitor their children’s leisure activities more carefully. During the thaw, ice on water bodies becomes especially dangerous, and going out onto it can have fatal consequences.

Earlier, Polish rescuers also evacuated a sailor from the Lone vessel in the open sea.
