Britain says it will not ease sanctions on Russian oil

The UK government is not considering easing sanctions on Russian oil in the wake of the US decision.
This was stated by the UK Energy Minister Michael Shanks, writes the ВВС.
In the context of the US decision to temporarily lift sanctions on Russian oil and petroleum products loaded onto ships at sea, Minister Michael Shanks stressed the importance of sanctions.
“The UK government will not ease sanctions against Russia. We categorically cannot allow Putin, sitting in the Kremlin, to regard this as an opportunity to invest in a military machine,” Michael Shanks stressed.
As previously reported by USM, the United States has allowed operations with Russian oil already loaded onto tankers for a month. The pause in sanctions will be in effect until April 11 and also applies to a number of related services – in particular, insurance, mooring and pilotage.
