Ukrainian agricultural exports are recovering despite attacks on ships and limited maritime logistics

In September, the volume of Ukrainian agricultural exports increased by 22% in monetary terms and by 41% in weight compared to August.

This was stated by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Taras Vysotsky in a column for LIGA.net.

The Minister recalled that this summer Russia intensified terrorist attacks on civilian vessels calling at Ukrainian ports. This actually caused a new wave of blocking of Ukrainian maritime exports.

“This has become another serious challenge for the agricultural sector. However, Ukrainian producers and exporters are again adapting to new conditions. In September, the volume of agricultural exports increased by 22% in monetary terms and by 41% in weight compared to August,” Taras Vysotsky noted.

In total, in September 2026, Ukraine exported 3.0 million tons of agricultural products with a total value of $1.6 billion. Over the month, the volume of exports increased by 0.9 million tons. Thanks to the reorientation of export flows, the Ukrainian agricultural sector received $283 million more in export revenue in September than in August.

According to the minister, at the same time, a simple comparison of monthly indicators does not give a complete picture due to the different number of days in August and September. Therefore, the average daily dynamics are more indicative.

“In September, Ukraine exported an average of 101,200 tons of agricultural products per day against 69,200 tons in August. The growth exceeded 46%. The average daily value of exports increased by 26% – from $41.3 million to $52.0 million,” he added.

At the same time, Ukraine continues to fulfill its role as one of the key suppliers of food to world markets. In September alone, 551,000 tons of Ukrainian wheat were sent to the countries of the Middle East and North Africa.
