The former Head of the Odesa seaport will be tried for “towing schemes”
Prosecutors of the Office of the Prosecutor General sent an indictment against the former Head of the State Enterprise “Odesa Commercial Sea Port” to the court. Earlier, in April, the SSU (Security Service of Ukraine) informed him of suspicion of causing damage in the amount of UAH 142 million (USD 5.3 million).
The indictment was issued due to the negligence, which had serious consequences (part 2 of Section 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), the press service of the department reports.
The investigation found that one of the former Heads of the state-owned enterprise during 2017-2019 did not ensure the proper and efficient use of the company’s property – sea tugs. Under the guise of “rendering services”, he transferred them to an actual hourly lease to private legal entities at reduced tariffs.
“Due to the improper performance by an official of his official duties, SE “Odesa Commercial Sea Port” lost UAH 142 million,” the press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General said.
