The UN Food Organization will establish an office in Ukraine
The Cabinet of Ministers approved the signing of the Agreement between the government and the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations — FAO — on the creation of a Project Office in Ukraine and the provision of technical and humanitarian assistance to our country.
“We expect closer coordination in matters of grain export. Ukraine will continue to help countries where the issue of food is acute. In the future, cooperation will contribute to the growth of Ukrainian exports and the achievement of our goal — the creation of an export-oriented economy with high added value,” said the Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Yulia Svyridenko.
In mid-August, with the financial support of Japan, Canada and the Australian charity Minderoo Foundation, FAO has already provided emergency agricultural aid (seed material, multi-purpose cash aid) to 80,000 people in 13 regions of Ukraine.
Now, FAO, together with the Government of Ukraine, is implementing the Strategy to Support Grain Storage. It provides for the supply to Ukrainian farmers of sleeves for storing grain, equipment for loading and unloading, as well as modular grain warehouses.
In general, FAO plans to attract 180.4 million US dollars for the implementation of the Rapid Response Plan in Ukraine and the Strategy for supporting grain storage.
