A new “reason” was found for the delay of Ukrainian vessels in Istanbul
The Phytosanitary Association of Ukraine (FAU) calls to find the real reasons for the delay of ships in Turkish ports.
Turkish officials attribute the delay of ships in ports to an excess of phosphine in the holds. Instead, FAU emphasizes that the delays are not related to fumigation, because FAU member companies strictly comply with the requirements of national legislation and international norms, reports the Elevatorist media.
Therefore, the reason for delays in ship inspections does not lie in the sphere of activity of fumigation companies, but probably relates to organizational issues over which the companies have no influence. One of the reasons cited by the FAU is the insufficient number of inspectors on ships.
“Inspection groups, of which only three are currently working, are theoretically capable of inspecting up to 9 vessels, and in fact 3-8 vessels. Despite the fact that an average of 7-8 ships depart from the ports of Great Odesa per day. As a result, the duration of the inspection of vessels increased to 10-15 days, although in the first week of operation of the “grain corridor” the inspection of vessels lasted only five to six days,” the FAU notes.
Currently, more than 150 vessels are standing near the shores of Turkey awaiting inspection by special inspection groups of the SCC, and the russian side is delaying the provision of its representatives to form additional inspection groups.
