In the ports of Ukraine, there are difficulties with transshipment due to the delay of the ships

There were difficulties with transshipment at the terminals in the seaports of Ukraine. The reason for the problems was the delay of the vessels during the inspection in Turkey and the filling of the elevator capacities.

Difficulties with cargo movement in ports were discussed during a meeting of representatives of “Ukrzaliznytsia” and the grain market on Thursday, October 20, writes Rail Insider.

“I also see a slight subsidence in the ports. This is due to the fact that the containers are full and due to delays in the inspection of vessels in Turkey, the shipment from the ports is gradually decreasing. This already affects internal transfers as well,” noted Valeriy Tkachev, deputy director of the Department of Commercial Work of the University of Warsaw.

Currently, 7,000 wagons are heading towards Odessa ports, and 39 warehouses are planned to be delivered during the current day. This is more than passing through the western border crossings. However, there are difficulties with transshipment in the ports.

During the meeting, it was said that the operator “Ukrelevatorprom” in the port of Odesa is causing the greatest concern. There are 6 abandoned trains at his address, which have been idle for more than 8 days.

“The prospects for vessels are not rosy yet. There is an idea to request a convention restriction,” noted the representative of the Odesa Railway.

In addition, there are 5 abandoned trains at Porto-SAN and one at Novotech. Another 3 trains were abandoned at the “Transbalk Terminal” in the port of Chornomorsk. However, in these cases, according to railway workers, there are prospects for solving the problem in the near future.
