The Barcelona the court re-arrested the russian oligarch’s super yacht
A Spanish court has once again seized a super yacht belonging to the sanctioned russian oligarch, Sergei Chemezov.
A court order for the arrest of the 85-meter vessel Meridian A was issued on November 2, Bloomberg reports.
Previously, the yacht was called Valerie. Spanish authorities seized the vessel in March.
In order to deceive the port authorities and remove the yacht from the port , the company Amtech Worldwide Ltd, which formally owns the vessel, issued a power of attorney for its operation to another company. She, in turn, changed the documentation and name of the yacht to Meridian A.
The new name was applied not only to the hull of the yacht, but also to the life jackets of the crew members. Thus, the management company was able to obtain permission from the local administration for the yacht to leave the port.
Then, in October, the Barcelona Port Authority confirmed the attempt to withdraw the yacht and noted that the process was interrupted when Valerie was already preparing to leave the place of permanent parking. So the attempt to illegally take the yacht out of the port failed.
