UZ hopes to increase the load of grain

Railwaymen hope to increase the load of grain thanks to the decision to extend the operation of the grain corridor.

“I hope that thanks to the decision to extend the operation of the grain corridor for another 120 days, we will be able to increase the load of grain from the current 78 thousand tons per day to 100-130 thousand tons, as it was not so long ago,” – quotes Rail Insider Valeriy Tkachov, Director of the Department of Commercial Work of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”.

As the representative of the commercial service of the Odesa Railway regional branch reported during a meeting with grain producers on Thursday, November 17, the Black Sea “ports are empty” at the moment, so there is an opportunity to receive more trains.

However, Valeriy Tkachev asked the shippers to abandon their plans in case of redirection of cargo from the western crossings to the sea ports, so that these volumes could be transferred to other companies that need it.

The queue of wagons heading towards the land border currently consists of more than 19,000 wagons, of which about 8,000 are with grain. The most difficult situation is at Chop and Batyovo stations.
