Ukrainian grain prices may rise

Ukrainian export grains may become more expensive. In particular, because of russia’s blocking of ships.

On the wheat market, prices are expected to rise to $235 per ton. The rise in prices is caused by the fact that russian federation blocks ships with grain. In December, Ukraine will export 1.5 million tons of wheat, compared to the previously announced 1.8 million tons, reports the analytical center of the “Pusk” cooperative.

Market coverage for January is weak — only 750,000 tons were sold this month. There is no significant supply on the market.

The price of export wheat is in the range of 215–220 dollars per ton. Farmers are in no hurry to sell grain, expecting prices at the level of 230-235 dollars per ton. A short-term increase in prices to $230 per ton by December 25 is forecast. However, prices will eventually return to $210-$215 per ton, analysts say.

There is currently a sufficient supply on the Ukrainian soybean market. However, processors are purchasing raw materials in reserve, as prices may rise significantly by the end of winter. Mills purchase soybeans at prices in the range of $399-$409 per ton. It can be predicted that in January-February, soybean prices will rise to 434-461 dollars per ton.

In total, Ukraine collected 3.6 million tons of soybeans and has reserves of about 3 million tons. This is enough to cover the needs of both importers and processors.

At the same time, rapeseed has become cheaper since mid-November. The situation is explained by a decrease in the demand of importers. In addition, this year, the supply of rapeseed on the international market is greater thanks to the increase in production volumes in the EU and Canada, IA “APK-Inform” reports.
