On Monday, December 12, russian troops fired a mortar at the floating crane “ Zakharii”.
The russians fired several mortar shots at the floating crane, focusing on the data of their own reconnaissance drones.
After three mines hit the crane, the shelling stopped and a fire started. Previously, all the equipment on the crane burned down.
Despite the shelling, as of Tuesday, the floating crane remained afloat, infrastructure observer Pavlo Avdokushin reported on Facebook.
“Unfortunately, I don’t know anything about the fate of the team. It is also unknown whether it is possible to reach it now to check the damage, because it is located near the coast, which is controlled by the enemy. Last year, the floating crane “Zakharii” took part in the construction of a bridge in Zaporizhzhia. After the work, the crane was in Kherson for repairs, before heading to Turkey in the spring. The crane was in Kherson when the full-scale russian invasion and subsequent occupation of the city began. Before the withdrawal of troops from Kherson, the occupiers towed the floating crane along with other vessels to the left bank of the Dnipro.
