Orders for car transporters reached a 10-year maximum

The number of orders for car transporters increased due to the recovery of the car trade after COVID.

In total, 48 ships of this type were ordered in January-October 2022, with a total capacity of 375,000 CEU, according to Clarksons Research analysts.

Thus, at the beginning of November, the order portfolio reached a more than 10-year high — 86 car carriers with a total capacity of 641,000 CEU. About 93% of new ships will run on LNG, of which 23% will support work on ammonia or methanol.

USM recently wrote that orders for the construction of LNG tankers have almost doubled:  almost doubled: in 2022, shipyards received orders for the construction of 170 tankers.
