Freight rates in the Black Sea have decreased

Over the past week, freight rates from Black Sea ports have decreased.

In particular, rates for shipments of “handy sizes” from Ukraine decreased by another $3-5/ton during the week, ISM reports.

Rates from other Black Sea ports also decreased — by $2-3/ton.

Shipments by coasters from the Danube became cheaper by $2-4/ton, from other regions of the Black and Mediterranean Seas — by $0.5-1.5/ton.

In the Sea of Azov and in the “panamax” segment, freight rates more or less held their own.

During the first two weeks of December, daily charter rates for ships from the Black Sea fell almost by half. This is due to the fact that by the time the “grain agreement” was extended, due to the sabotage of Russian inspectors, a large concentration of vessels, more than 100-150 units, had formed in Turkish waters.
