Ukrainian railways can transport almost 30 million tons of grain in 2022
According to the results of the year, Ukrainian railways can transport 28.5 million tons of grain cargo.
“Together we transported almost 25 million 650 thousand tons in 11 months, and this is only 4 million less than a year ago. I expect that by the end of 2022 we will transport approximately 28.5 million tons of grain in all modes. If we talk about export transportation, I hope that it will be approximately 22.5 million tons,” said Valery Tkachev, deputy director of the commercial work department of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC, Rail.Insider reports.
According to him, currently the indicators of grain transportation are the best compared to all other categories of cargo.
“This year, grain became the most important cargo for the railway: almost 30% of the total load and 50% of export shipments,” said the representative of the UZ.
He also noted that with the beginning of full-scale Russian aggression, transportation through the western border crossings increased 30 times. Every month, Ukraine transports more than 1 million tons of grain to the western crossings.
“No industry has done as well as grain growers this year. We quickly went to the borders, built terminals, found transshipment places, wagons,” Tkachev added.
