In 2022, the port of Reni increased transshipment by 6.5 times
Last year, the volume of cargo handling at the port of Reni amounted to 6.8 million tons.
“The best work result for all the years of Ukraine’s independence was shown by the Port of Reni in 2022. The volume of cargo processing amounted to 6.8 million tons, which is 6.5 times higher than the indicators of 2021 (1.3 million tons),” said Oleksiy Vostrikov, Acting Director of SE “Seaports Administration of Ukraine” on Facebook.
Since August 2022, dredging of the water area of the Reni port has been underway to bring it to passport depths. Currently, the maximum depth near the sea berths is already 7 meters, which allows to receive all vessels whose draft allows passage through the approach channels.
The approximate date of completion of operational dredging is planned for the second quarter of 2023.
As previously reported by USM, the ports of the Danube region almost tripled their cargo handling in the 11 months of 2022. During this period, the ports handled 14.5 million tons of cargo.
