Rada proposes to allow the Shipping Administration to close rivers during wartime
Transport Committee of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has proposed giving the Shipping Administration the authority to suspend river shipping during a state of war or emergency.
At the meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Transport and Infrastructure on January 12, a number of draft laws were discussed, in particular, on changes to the existing order of inland shipping. Yuriy Kysel, the head of the Committee, announced this on Facebook.
It is about making changes to the Law of Ukraine “On Inland Water Transport” regarding shipping during the introduction of a state of war or emergency (No. 7651). The document regulates the issue of shipping on inland waterways in the specified periods.
The central executive body, which implements state policy in the field of inland water transport, is empowered to temporarily stop navigation on certain sections of inland waterways during the navigation period, in the event of a state of war or state of emergency in Ukraine or in some of its localities
The committee decided to recommend the Verkhovna Rada to adopt the project as a basis.
