Currently, there is a question about the continuation of the “grain initiative”, – Ambassador Bodnar
The grain agreement expires in less than 60 days. Currently, there is a question about the continuation of the initiative.
“Now there is a question about the continuation of this initiative, since there are less than 60 days left before its completion, and this is now one of the most pressing issues… This initiative has confirmed its viability,” Ukrainian Ambassador to Turkey Vasyl Bodnar said at the Ukrinform briefing.
He recalled that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy introduced the Grain from Ukraine humanitarian initiative to develop the grain agreement. Also, a lot of Ukrainian grain is processed in Turkey, from where it is then sent to the markets of countries that need food.
In addition, the ambassador noted that at the moment, a smaller volume of products is being transported through the “grain corridor” than planned, because the representatives of Russia in the Joint Coordination Center are slowing down the process of inspecting ships.
“Of course, we could do much more, but for now it’s an efficient process, and it’s the only way to supply the large volumes of grain we grow,” Bodnar said.
