Food prices in the world are decreasing for the tenth month in a row
In January, the prices of goods in the world decreased and this trend is observed for the tenth month in a row.
“The FAO food price index averaged 131.2 points in January 2023, decreasing by 1.1 points (0.8%) compared to December, which marked the 10th consecutive month of decline, the press service of the “Food and Agricultural organizations of the United Nations (FAO).
It is noted that the index fell by 28.6 points (17.9%) from the peak (159.7 points) reached in March 2022.
“The fall in the index in January was due to a decrease in the price indices for vegetable oils, dairy products and sugar, while the prices of cereals and meat remained mostly stable,” noted the FAO.
