The Kilia plant has mastered a new type of dry cargo repair
For the first time, the specialists of the Kili plant repaired the lids of a dry cargo ship, which are raised using a hydraulic system.
After the dock repair, in order to continue the documents of the Register, specialists lowered the steamer “Mykola Budnikov” from the blind. Ship repairmen plan to conduct sea trials in the coming days. In addition, the operation of the propeller complex, propulsion and anchor devices will be checked on the ship.
Dock repairs took 45 days.
“This type of self-propelled dry cargo ships is equipped with heavy top hatch covers, which are raised using a hydraulic system. Therefore, during the repair, hydraulic cylinders were restored,” the UDS press service noted.
Currently, the last stage of the work remains – the replacement of the rubber seals of the top hatch covers covers, which are made to order.
“It should be noted that earlier the repair of similar covers of top hatch covers was not carried out at the Kilia plant (only at foreign shipyards). The work was performed by our specialists for the first time, thanks to the improvement of the qualification level of the plant’s employees,” the specialistsnoted.
