A boat with border guards overturned on the Dnipro River in Chernihiv Region. Two officers died.
The SBI is investigating the death of two servicemen of one of the border detachments of the Chernihiv region, the department’s website .
On April 24, a boat with a border outfit of five servicemen overturned while traveling along a tributary of the Dnipro River. During search and rescue operations, the bodies of two border guards were discovered.
According to preliminary information, the boat was overloaded, began to take on water and sank. As a result of the accident, two servicemen died.
Proceedings were opened on the grounds of a criminal offense provided for in Art. 417 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — “violation of the rules of navigation”.
The investigation ordered a series of examinations, including a forensic examination, to determine the cause of death of the servicemen. Interrogations of witnesses are ongoing.
Currently, there are no detainees in the criminal proceedings, no one has been informed of the suspicion.
