A bridge connecting two ports is being repaired in Odesa

In the Odesa region, a bridge connecting two Ukrainian ports is being repaired on the Kofa canal.

The repair of the bridge over the Kofa canal on the T-16-07 Izmail-Kilia-Vylkove highway is underway,  the Ministry of Reconstruction reported.

Thanks to the installation of the new structure, the route to Izmail will be shortened, especially for the residents of the city of Kilia. While they have to go in a detour on the highway M-15 Odesa – Reni (to Bucharest). In addition, the importance of the bridge over the Kofah channel lies in the connection of the ports of Izmail and Kili.

The old bridge over the Kofa canal was built in the 60s of the last century. In 2021, due to its state of emergency, it was closed to all types of vehicles.

The repair of the building involves comprehensive restoration of transport and operational characteristics, new road surface, approaches and exits, organization of drainage and strengthening of the roadside.

The Restoration Agency plans to finish the repair works by the end of 2024.

Previously, USM reported that the Swiss company Harvest Commodities will build new grain warehouses in the Port of Izmail.
