On Wednesday, March 1, the Chinese cargo ship Yong Xing 56 sank in the Tatar Strait near the russian port of Vanino, rosZMI reports.

At the scene, they inspected the hull and found a hole measuring 2×1.5 m. During the week, rescuers tried to repair the hole and pump out the water, but the flooding of the ship’s interior continued.

The dry cargo sank at a depth of 253 m.

As reported by the USM, the Yong Xing 56 bulk carrier was at anchor in the Tatar Strait when the ice broke through the ship’s hull. 29,000 tons of alumina were transported on the ship. All crew members were rescued.
