A decrease in pollution after the oil spill is recorded in the waters of Odesa

No traces of vegetable oil were recorded on most sections of the Odesa coast, local residues are preserved only on individual beaches.
In Odesa, monitoring of water pollution due to the Russian Federation’s strike on the port of Pivdenny continues. No pollution was detected in the Black Sea water area and the sandy beach area, the press service of the Odesa City Council reported.
According to visual observations, the level of pollution on Inclusive Beach (11th station of the Great Fountain) has significantly decreased – small scattered spots remain on the water. On December 26, boom barriers were installed on Santorini Beach, which significantly reduced pollution, although individual traces of oil are still recorded there.
It is separately noted that no dead birds were found over the weekend.
We will recall that the oil spill occurred after vegetable oil, along with combustion products, got to the sea as a result of the impact of containers in the port of Pivdennyi.
Current data indicate a trend towards coastal cleaning, but local areas require further monitoring and support for preventive measures (buoy lines, coastal cleanup).
