A dozen dead dolphins were found on the Odesa coast
During the last month, a dozen dead dolphins were found on the coast of Odesa.
Scientists found more than 10 dead dolphins on the northwestern coast of the Black Sea. This was announced on Facebook by the head of the Tuzlivski Lymani NPP, Ivan Rusev, Suspilne reports.
The death of the mammals was probably caused by the shelling of the Kinburn Spit, as well as the mining of the Black Sea and the launch of Caliber missiles.
At the same time, currently the total number of dead animals is much less than last year due to the impact of the sonar of Russian ships. At that time, according to the estimates of the Tuzlivski lymani National Park, more than 50,000 Black Sea cetaceans died.
At the same time, experts of the national park have prepared a scientific rationale for the expansion of the area of “Tuzlivsky estuaries” by 3,000 square meters. km of the Black Sea to preserve the dolphin population. Scientists also suggested creating a rehabilitation center for animals. The project was supported by the Ministry of Environment, but the further process of creating a marine reserve is being blocked by the Odesa Regional State Administration, Rusev said.
As a reminder, Ukraine has committed to the EU to increase the area of protected areas to 15% by 2025. Currently, only 6.4% of the territories of Ukraine are backward zones.
Previously, USM wrote that Russia could use dolphins by force to protect the Navy base in Sevastopol.
