A floating crane overturned in occupied Sevastopol: there are dead and injured

The incident killed two people and injured more than 20.

In the Southern Bay of Sevastopol, a floating crane overturned due to negligence during testing of cargo equipment. This is reported by “Crimean Wind”.

The accident occurred on October 26, approximately between 15:30 and 15:45. The floating crane was lifting a load weighing 200 tons – this is 50% of the design load. During the tests, crew members were on board, although safety regulations require the evacuation of personnel during such operations.

As a result of the crane overturning, people fell into the water. At least two people died – an electrical engineer and a sailor, and more than two dozen people received injuries of varying severity.

It has not been definitively established which ship suffered the accident. Previously, it was about the unfinished floating crane PK-700 “Grigory Prosyankin”, which was planned to be cut up and taken to Russia for completion. At the same time, according to new data, it is about the PK-400 “Sevastopol”, laid down in November 2017.

Earlier, USM wrote that Russia was unable to save the shipyard occupied in Crimea, so it is going to sell it.
