A foreign company damaged a UDS sea vessel

After repairs, the second sea vessel of the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company returned to Izmail.

For a long time, the naval fleet was chartered by a Bulgarian company, which was supposed to return the vessels in proper condition, the UDS said.

However, the examination revealed that the maintenance of the fleet was carried out only on paper. The technical resource of most equipment was exhausted — further operation without major repairs was impossible.

Last year, UDS restored the ship “Vilkovo”, now the work on “Izmail” has been completed.

Currently, there is little work for the UDS navy due to minimum rates. If there are still loads in Izmail, there is practically nothing to do with returning to Ukraine. Some private carriers, like the UDS, put the fleet in the doldrums. For those who try to continue working, the operating costs objectively do not cover the cost of transportation.

UDS tried to force the ex-lessee of the vessels to cover the costs of repairs. But the Bulgarian company has no assets that could be seized. Also, under the terms of the contract, disputes are resolved under British law.

Specific people in Ukraine are behind the Bulgarian company, the UDS said.

Earlier, USM reported that UDS spoke about key tasks in the conditions of low freight rates.
