A free trade agreement with Turkey will soon enter into force

The free trade agreement with Turkey, signed a year ago, may enter into force in the near future.

The agreement on free trade between Turkey and Ukraine will become operational in the coming months. So, on January 31, the parties have already determined the last steps for the entry into force of the document. This is reported by “Ukrinform”.

“Although there was a slight decline in 2023, our two-way trade is approaching $7.5 billion. Our goal is to reach $10 billion in bilateral trade as soon as possible. For this, the Free Trade Agreement signed by the two countries in 2022 is of great importance,” said Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat.

The parties hope that the Agreement will enter into force in the coming months — after the completion of official ratification procedures by the parliaments of both countries.

As a reminder, Ukraine and Turkey signed the Free Trade Agreement on February 3, 2022. The signing took place in the presence of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Previously, USM wrote that Ukraine will expand the sphere of free trade with Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
