A large-scale death of dolphins was recorded in the Black Sea
In March, 130 bodies of dead marine mammals were discovered.
This was reported by Doctor of Biological Sciences Ivan Rusev.
According to him, this year in March, many dolphins died in the bays of Sevastopol – they were thrown to different shores of the occupied Crimea.
Among those detected were contused cetaceans with symptoms of sonar damage.
“But now we have received terrible information about the large-scale death of dolphins – 130 more in March alone, whose bodies were found near different shores of the Krasnodar Territory – Sochi, Novorossiysk, etc. There are also confirmed finds of several dead people who were washed back to the shores of Bulgaria,” Ivan Rusev said.
The situation is a confirmation of the fact that the activity of enemy sonar submarines and surface boats in that part of the Black Sea, both near Crimea and near Novorossiysk, Sochi, is the main factor in the continued death of Black Sea cetaceans.
“The military fleet of the Russian Federation is concentrated in those waters and is constantly on the lookout, using sonar devices that kill marine mammals. Previously, before the war, dolphin beaching in March was a very rare phenomenon. And now, during the war and the influence of the military factor of the raccoons that attacked Ukraine, according to our estimates, the real number of dead animals in 2024 is already several thousand animals, taking into account the fact that the sea throws out only 5% of the dead bodies”, – notes the professor .
USM recently reported that a rare North Atlantic right whale had died off the coast of the United States. Injuries discovered by specialists indicate a collision between a whale and a ship.
