A mission of the International Maritime Organization will come to Ukraine
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) with the support of other UN agencies will send a mission to Ukraine to identify problems and needs in the implementation of the right to free navigation.
Such a decision is contained in the resolution “Impact of the Russian armed invasion of Ukraine on international shipping”, which was adopted by the Assembly of the organization, Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov said.
“Another important decision at the international level regarding free shipping. This decision, as well as the non-election of Russia to the IMO Council for 2023-2024, shows the protection of the international maritime community’s right to free navigation of each country,” Kubrakov noted.
According to him, the results of the mission will be formed into a long-term project of technical assistance to Ukraine.
The Assembly also praised Ukraine’s efforts to unblock free navigation in the Black Sea and create a Ukrainian corridor for civilian vessels.
