A new record: the port of Izmail fulfilled the annual cargo handling plan
At the beginning of May 2023, the Izmail seaport fulfilled the annual plan for cargo processing in the amount of more than 6 million tons.
As of May 9, the Izmail seaport fulfilled the annual cargo handling plan in the amount of 6 million 187 thousand tons. This is a record pace of annual indicators for the entire history of the port’s existence, reports the Ukrainian Sea Port Authority .
The largest volumes of cargo handling are demonstrated by operators: SE “Izmailsk Sea Trade Port” (2 million 656.4 thousand tons), PrJSC “Dunaisudnoremont” (1 million 289.5 thousand tons), PrJSC “IRP “Dunaisudnoservice” ( 805 thousand tons).
In the cargo nomenclature, the first place in terms of transshipment volume is grain cargo, the second is other agricultural products (oil, meal, sunflower), and the third is katun.
“The increase in the throughput capacity of the Izmail seaport, which today processes a significant share of Ukrainian exports, was facilitated by the restoration of navigation in the Bystre estuary, the increase in the water area of the Izmail port, and the dredging work in the port’s water area. The Danube cluster is a key alternative way of export-import logistics, which is a priority for the further development of SE “USPA”, – said the head of SE “USPA” Yuriy Lytvyn.
The capacity of the Izmail Port increased as new terminal operators put berths into operation for grain and vegetable oil cargo operations. We are talking about OJSC “Dunaysudnoservice”, PJSC “Dunaysudnoremont”, PJSC “ICKK”, as well as due to the construction of a new terminal of JV “Nibulon” LLC.
As previously reported by USM, in March 2023, SE “IZM MTP” processed 721,5 thousand tons of cargo – the highest figure for the entire time of the port’s operation.
