A record since the beginning of the war: Ukraine exported 13 million tons of goods in April
This year, in April, Ukraine exported more than in February 2022.
Ukraine has set a new record for the export of goods during the full-scale war, the Minister of Economy, Yulia Svyridenko, said.
So, in April, 13.1 million tons of cargo worth $3.3 billion were exported.
“This is an absolute record for the entire time of a full-scale war. For example, in March, exports amounted to 11.8 million tons, in January – 12 million tons. What is important is that this figure is higher than the pre-war level of February 2022. Then we exported 12.8 million tons,” said Yuliya Svyridenko.
She added that the opening of an alternative sea corridor, through which grain, metal and other goods are now exported, contributed to the increase in indicators.
The sea corridor also made it possible to partially compensate for losses in the economy due to the blockade of the Polish-Ukrainian border.
“Another important decision to increase export volumes was the introduction of a unique mechanism for insurance of ships against military risks. Last year, Ukraine, together with the British government and a pool of 14 insurance companies, succeeded in creating the UNITY mechanism for vessels using the Ukrainian maritime corridor. At first, it applied only to agricultural products, but we expanded it to all non-military goods,” the minister emphasized.
Previously, USM reported that thanks to the sea corridor, Ukraine increased metal exports.
