A Russian and a Belarusian who spied on seaports are on trial in Poland


The trial of a Russian and a Belarusian who spied on the country’s seaports began in Lublin (Poland).

The trial began on May 20 at the Lublin District Court, Gospodarka Morska Gospodarka Morska reports.

The prosecutor’s office accuses the two men of participating in an organized criminal group and espionage for Russia.

Members of the group installed cameras along railroad tracks and monitored airports and seaports.

In January-March 2023, the defendants monitored the airport in Jasionka, the railway station in Rzeszów and installed cameras on railway routes leading to railway tracks used to transport military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. One of the accused was also supposed to monitor the seaports in Gdańsk and Gdynia.

One of the accused pleaded guilty. Another pleaded guilty to only some of the charges.

Judge Myroslav Bzhozovsky announced a break in the court session until June 19.
