A Russian submarine was used in an unsuccessful attempt to attack the south

The Russians use submarines to patrol the Black Sea instead of a surface fleet.

“There are three submarines in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov that are carriers of cruise missiles. One of them is constantly at sea and poses a threat,” Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesman for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

According to him, one out of three submarines does not go to sea. It is assumed that it has technical malfunctions.

The rotation of Russian submarines instead of the surface fleet has been going on for several weeks.

“If last time they took out the B-871 “Alrosa” of the “Paltus” project, which is not a missile carrier, now there is 636 of the “Varshavyanka” project. He is a carrier of cruise missiles and on Monday he used one missile in the Mykolaiv region, but it was unsuccessful,” the spokesman said.

These submarines probably will not be able to enter the northern part of the Black Sea.

“The operational depth there does not allow this class of submarines to operate in principle. Therefore, they will not be able to come close to our coast unnoticed,” Pletenchuk concluded.

As the USM previously reported, to destroy Russian submarines, Ukraine needs more aircraft and ships.
