A russian vessel with cargo for the nuclear power plant was not allowed to enter Bangladesh

A russian cargo ship was refused entry to a port in Bangladesh by direct order of the country’s government.

The Ursa Major arrived at the port of Mongla, Bangladesh on December 24, according to Fleetmon.

The bulk carrier delivered cargo for the Ruppur nuclear power plant, which is being built on the east bank of the Padma River, 160 km from Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.

But the ship was refused entry to the port because it is under US sanctions as the former Sparta III.

On December 22, the russian ambassador demanded to let the ship into the port, but the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh rejected his request.

Sparta I, II, III and IV are ships of the fleet of the russian company Oboronlogistika, which is engaged, in particular, in the transportation of military cargo. One of these vessels could have transported drones from Iran to russia , which the terrorist country is currently using to attack Ukraine.
