Agricultural associations called on Zelenskyy to veto the law on export duties on soybeans and rapeseed

Leading agricultural associations have appealed to the President of Ukraine to veto the law on export duties on soybeans and rapeseed.

Representatives of the industry are asking to use the right of veto and return the law to parliament for reconsideration, the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council reported.

“On behalf of the members of our associations, we express a categorical protest against the adoption of the aforementioned changes regarding the introduction of an export duty on soybean and rapeseed seeds,” the appeal states.

The farmers recalled that Ukraine already had a similar experience in 2017-2020, when the abolition of VAT on the export of these crops led to a sharp reduction in the area of their cultivation.

The agricultural associations also warn that the introduction of the duty will negatively affect not only the domestic market, but also Ukraine’s international reputation.

The innovation will hit small and medium-sized agricultural producers, who cannot export their products independently, especially hard.

In addition, the farmers emphasized the law’s inconsistency with the Tax Code of Ukraine. Earlier, USM reported that Nibulon appealed to Zelenskyy over “soybean amendments.”
